The intended or specified purpose of an AI system serves as a foundational element of responsible AI governance. It provides the context for evaluating an AI system's performance, safety, and ethical implications. Systems deployed outside their intended purpose may encounter unexpected scenarios they weren't designed to handle, potentially leading to failures, biases, or harmful outcomes.
