Within this landscape, data portability has emerged as a crucial concept, enshrined in regulatory frameworks such as the 2018 EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). At its core, data portability empowers individuals with the right to obtain, copy, and seamlessly transfer their personal data across various platforms and services. This revolutionary concept redefines the traditional dynamics of data ownership and access, shifting control from data custodians to individuals themselves. It compels data holders to release personal data, even when it may not align with their immediate commercial interests.
