Problem Statement

Traditional artisanal crafts and handlooms remain lost within undifferentiated general marketplaces, starving local creators of direct commercial access to the high density tourist footprint.

AI Intervention Layer, defined*

*India's IT Minister once said there are 5 layers of AI (there could be more or less). Hence it becomes necessary to define which specific AI layer was targeted in our policy recommendation for this problem statement.

Deployment of continuous commercial touchpoint recommendation systems that suggest authentic local craft purchases to visitors before, during, and after travel.

Here's what we Recommend.

Integrate automated commerce recommendations directly into hotel booking platforms, travel apps, and heritage site digital interfaces to create a continuous commercial touchpoint throughout the entire visitor journey (before, during, and after travel).

Possible Mandate Recommended for the Uttar Pradesh State Government

The state must incentivize private e commerce platforms through strategic data sharing agreements and preferential marketplace listings to build dedicated traditional craft verticals with verified artisan provenance. This should aim to convert UP's heritage brand into a commercially exploitable digital asset, rather than leaving traditional crafts to undifferentiated general marketplaces.

Measurable Impact of our Recommendations

Seamless connection between tourist travel intent and direct artisanal purchasing, bypassing exploitative intermediary layers.

Possible risks

Leaving local crafts unindexed in massive general marketplaces where unverified, machine made imitations cannibalize the revenue of genuine regional artisans.

Possible Economic Spillover of the Policy Move

Converts the intangible value of UP's cultural heritage brand into a highly structured, commercially exploitable digital economic asset.

AI Policy Severity Index*

*Derived directly from the 77 foundational structural challenges evaluated across ten industries within the UP.AIACT.IN Report, the AI Policy Severity Index functions as an evidence-based diagnostic tool designed to classify grassroots operational friction that emerges prior to the rollout of artificial intelligence systems.
